Waste to Energy in Asia-Pacific

China and Japan together accounted for 84% of the Asia-Pacific waste-to-energy market, with China dominating the market. The dominant position of China is attributed to its large population base which generates a significant amount of waste. The “Municipal Waste to Energy Project” is a Chinese strategy that operates on a model of establishing WTE plants that burn municipal waste to generate electricity and has helped to drive the domestic market. The plants employ clean technology, avoiding the use of fossil fuels while adhering to the highest global emission standards.
